Chapter 6

This chapter examines the prophecies of Isaiah and Nephi, as well as the visions from the book of Revelation in the ‘latter days’. It emphasizes what Jesus taught concerning the Last Judgment and the need to be on the watch and repent. It will also touch on the temporary aspects of life and the return of Jesus while encouraging us all to have patience and be ready before his return.

The End Times and the Return of Christ

The phenomenon of the end times has never failed to capture the interest of mankind. Most people see it as something dreadful and picture in their minds a doomsday scenario. However, a look at Jesus’ teachings about the end times, though quite serious, can also give hope. His teachings constantly remind us about God’s plan which is absolute in its intention to restore everything and fully establish the Kingdom of God forever: “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come” (Matthew 24:42). Let us look at the biblical perspectives on the end time, based on the works of Isaiah, Nephi, and Revelation. Although the end times pose certain tribulations, nevertheless, God’s plan is absolute, and reminds us to stay patient, while keeping in mind that God’s plan must unfold.

A clock that has an end and a beginning

The "end times" are a fascinating and a complex era that has been explored in various ways throughout history and across different cultures. It often reflects the fears and beliefs of societies facing significant challenges or changes. In the Bible, particularly in the book of Revelation, the end times are described with events such as the Rapture, the Tribulation, and the Second Coming of Christ. These events are seen as part of God's plan to bring about a new creation.

Genesis 6:3 the passage emphasize the limitations of human life and the everlasting promise of a restored life through Christ. It highlight the limits of human existence but also points to the lasting presence of God’s spirit. In 2 Nephi 9:4, the promise of a restored life is expressed this way, "that even though our physical bodies will perish, we will be restored and see God."

Despite the challenges and apocalyptic times, those who remain faithful will be restored and sustained by God’s everlasting spirit in Christ. Remember, "Noah listened to God and remained faithful until the end of time. He did everything God asked him to do." In any case, the spirit of Christ overcomes disobedience and accomplishes what God wants. A living sacrifice.
